Pomum is in for some major surgery. It boots, but the drive makes some new sounds sometimes and the computer has a tendency to lock when disk access is called for, doing nothing but hitting the drive and spinning the beach ball.
Therefore, a hot (but, I hope, not too hot) 100 gigabyte, 7200 RPM drive has just been ordered. And with a little help from my friends, getting it inside shouldn't be too difficult.
In reality, it's probably best for everyone if I do as little helping as possible, sticking to watching a picking-an-iBook-apart-into-molecules-then-back-together-again-twice-experienced friend deal with those 30-odd screws, assorted cables and other booby traps. It'll all be good, clean fun I'm sure.
