Becka emailed, saying my site felt a bit dead recently.

Dead? Here?

Why, I just updated, only ...

Oh.

Between now and April 30th that cold I mentioned kept fading but on the whole hung on rather longer than I would have expected. I'm still sneezing a bit, but this afternoon I decided I was fit enough for a run, and I seem to have been right. My breating was a bit heavier than usual and I of course wasn't as fast as last time, but that's probably a wholly good thing after a break, and I feel very much back to normal now, post-shower, post-washing up and post-cooking, ingesting food in front of the computer to the tones of Cornershop.

So things are good. And it's been another quick and nice Monday. There's been a bit of rain every now and then, but it's been of the pleasant spring/early summer kind, which only makes the greens even greener and puts that wonderful scent of wet spring earth in the air.

If time stopped right now you wouldn't hear me complain.

Speaking of site updates, I've started thinking about design and technical polish too. Again. We'll see what comes out of it, but it would be fun to tape together a rough idea or two at least.

To keep heaping on little positive steps, I made a small program which can keep track of my home network's external IP address and log it for me. The idea is of course to make it easier for me to run and reach services/servers at home. As I have with little projects before, I started out intending to to it in AppleScript or something equally native. And, as I have before, I quickly ran into little snags and just got fed up and annoyed trying to find my way around. Fortunately, and this hasn't been as common before, then I got myself together and just put the program together in Java instead. It doesn't have any fancy stuff like an interface yet, but it does what I meant it to and it started doing it in one rather short sitting.

That's good enough for me right here and now.

Once I regularly finish my programming ideas at all I can start to get fancy and try to do them in new environments.
