Today the Wii was released around here.
I did not get one
for better.
I did actually try a little bit, after the thought sank in that it was at least theoretically possible to buy one. Martin and I took a walk down to the nearest Game, and actually saw a guy carrying his Wii out in a bag. But of course they were all pre-ordered and none remained for anyone else. Plenty of games and accessories though.
In the afternoon I went out and did some Christmas present shopping and looked around a bit more for possible Wii-sources.
(Guess which thought, present shopping or Wii-spotting, came first.)
Fortunately all places where I looked were sold out. To compensate some of them had stocked up on Xbox 360s, almost amusingly so. I don't think the local Elgiganten normally has an aisle dedicated for 360 Premium boxes and controllers, with spare Premium boxes stacked up all over the rest of their gaming section.
Fortunately, again, there was no bundle offer with a Premium 360 and Gears of War. (Although I suppose my lack of high definition monitors would have saved me had that been the case.)
So, I'm back home. Safe and sound, a few gifts richer and not several thousand crowns poorer. Had I ran into a Wii I might well have bought it on pure "ha-cool-to-get-one-at-launch-without-preorder"-feel, and not necessarily feel any better about myself right now.
So it's all good, and I have plenty of DS games.

Between abovementioned activities I had some really nice walks under my umbrella in rather heavy rain and darkness. And I'm not being sarcastic here, I really do like walking in the rain under a nice and large umbrella (as long as my feet stay dry). It's possible I'll never tire of the move and look of an unfolding umbrella right when you step out through a door. Really nice feeling, and if it's already been outside you can get a really good looking spray of water drops too. Oh, and dense rain in huge floodlights also looks really great, yum.
