WriteRoom in fullscreen mode ... Pretty sweet feeling indeed ...
There, set it to ten-point Monaco just like my terminal window. Green-on-black fullscreen text and music of choice in my ears, can it get any better?
Okay, it could. Somewhat larger text didn't hurt. And it's still not the feel of that old-school terminal.
Anyway, I'm home again after a week in Örebro. It's only Monday, so I still have almost a whole week to spend before it's time to work again. It's been one warm holiday so far, and after spending a few days at my mom's place my days are ending a lot later than usual. If you're on holiday you're on holiday ...
I've done my best to spread the gospel of Brain Training during the past week, and I've been as successful as I expected. (Which means that everyone I showed it to liked it, and there are now three profiles on my card instead of just one.) The only really bad thing about the game is the lack of play options in quick play mode. Maybe that's fixed in the sequel. The darn game even scared me today by "mis-calculating" my brain age after today's test.
Didn't I tell you I wouldn't let you win Dr. Kurosawa?
I got New Super Mario Bros for my birthday as well, and I really haven't taken the time to get into it yet. I've stumbled to the first world and reached the first battle against Bowser, but nothing more. One play session in four days, shame on me.
You know it's holiday times when it feels like people don't get online like you expect them to anymore.
I've done a bit of shopping since getting back to Lund. A pair of non-exercise shoes (the first since 2003 I think), a book, more hooks for putting up paintings. And I'm finally getting a picture frame fixed which has been broken for a year or so. Might get another, movie-poster-sized, frame tomorrow, and perhaps a USB sound card too. We'll see.
Despite this shopping frenzy I have spent exactly zero crowns on things such as DS Lites.
I've also done a little bit of exercising of savings, putting parts of them into different kinds of funds.
Now I just need to forget them so I don't start checking them maniacally every five minutes ...
So, to write of something else, Fitzcarraldo on DVD was another birthday present. I watched it tonight and it certainly is ... real. I had never heard of the film before removing the wrapping, but apparently it's representative of Werner Herzog in many ways. It's the story of an odd man with big dreams, filmed by a perhaps even odder man, starring another odd man and filmed in circumstances that in most ways actually seem worse than what the characters depicted go through.
Now I just want to find out a bit more about the real life Fitzcarraldo. Wikipedia and Google have been surprisingly unhelpful on the subject so far ...
