I didn't completely realize I was in the market for a keyboard and mouse replacement until today when I read a review of the AG-5, a console controller-like device which is just that. But now I'm really tempted, and it feels like something I could become completely unable to live without in impressively short time. Typing with the keyboard in my lap is great, and the only disadvantage is that the mouse isn't anywhere near as easy to reach and use in that situation. I've thought that a keyboard with a builtin trackpad or something would be great, but the AG-5 is a lot more interesting.
Basically it puts all the functionality of a keyboard and a trackball/mouse in something looking more like a console controller. I would like to feel one myself, I wonder how well the support for international keyboard layouts works (but then I'm writing this on a US keyboard, and I think differences on something like the AG-5 can only be less) and I feel a slight aversion to the thought of using a non-optical pointing device, but apart from those things it seems totally great in every way. Imagine how much mileage one could get out of keyboard shortcuts and Quicksilver with a unit like that ...
