Time flies along, as usual.
I walk to work, work, take an extended walk home and spend the remaining evening on surfing and the DS. When we "officially" started a period of more intense work two weeks ago I decided to start walking to and from work every day. My thinking was that when working longer hours getting around to any kind of exercise was going to be harder than usual, and moving between work and home seemed to be a natural and easy-to-get-around-to way to ... well, go.
So far it's worked out really well. I haven't missed any walking opportunities and I think I have more energy as well (and that's either from fresh air and exercise, or I'm into some high-energy period intense enough to support both working and walking more than usual). On a whim I added an extra round to/after the walk home a week ago. The walk to work is about three kilometers, and I guesstimate the bonus round to be between five and six. Not that the distance really matters, what's really great is to come home after sitting still at work all day and actually feel a bit physically tired.
And it's a lot more mentally refreshing than busride as well, that's for sure (and not hard to manage).
Never know how long I'll keep up the good work, but right now it feels nicely addictive and rewarding, and I think I've told just about everyone I can think of about it, just to increase the chances I'll keep doing it :-) ...
