Friday night. Three days of work have passed, very much in a flash. My brain is doing its best to adjust, expand and adapt. One thing I really should do, and have been encouraged to do, is to think aloud and get feedback. Talk more, that is. My two co-workers' chit-chat about what they're doing goes pretty much straight through my head, and Martin's thoughts about code structuring are at the very least three steps ahead of mine, but things will clear up in due time. Having an application's worth of highly structured and clean code to get into and eventually add to may seem daunting, but it's probably a pretty ideal situation to be in. With bad code I wouldn't learn so many good habits, and with bad co-workers I quite possibly would be too intimidated to be much use. I trundle on, trying to broaden my horizons and stop making every single beginner mistake there is to make.
There are great flashes of lightning in the west. We've been expecting a nice thunder-and-rainstorm to come and clean up the air all day.
At work the air actually reminded me of Hong Kong for a while.
So it's long overdue. Give me some more flashes! Let the thunder roll and give us a proper rain!

The penguins rest easy.
