Evil Dead.
After I saw Braindead it was probably inevitable I'd end up back there eventually ... Not that I wish I hadn't.
Now I know that I wasn't missing anything.
Still, it's amazing just how cheap a film like this feels. Or the ways it dares to feel cheap in. Or something like that. Somehow it did manage to get me a little bit worked up. Active imagination managing to do a good job despite the images and sound doing its best to work against it. Okay, perhaps that was mean. But when you see it you'll understand why this has got a cult following at best and certainly not any other kind.
It's not too hard to see where the cult following comes from though. Films made more or less without money and actors that still manage to be something deserve to be noticed.
Fun to have seen, somehow. Braindead's a riot though. And made me see this as well. But Evil Dead doesn't make me hungry for more.
Not of the same, at least.
