Why is the choice between trying to do something meaninful, fun and/or productive on one hand and randomly distracting yourself on the other always so difficult?
And to clarify a bit, posting this here is actually more of the former option than the latter. That's how bad things can get.
Humans are bad multitaskers, so they say. So perhaps the difficulty is that somewhere in the distraction you usually spend at least some time socialising in one way or the other. We humans like to socialise. But you need to focus on something to get it done well, zone in on it and lock other stuff out. Hence you feel like you're cutting yourself off from interactions you imagine you could be having if you were spending the time being randomly distracted.
Is this all much easier for people who have social jobs they enjoy and want to spend the forseeable future on?
