Martin has this guestbook/discussion page on his site. A few of us post quite a bit there. So much that Martin sat down and wrote a small Windows program to check for new posts and give a friendly hint if there were any. Creating a similar application for OS X seemed like a project of just the right size and difficulty for someone like me who's looking to learn a bit of Cocoa and objective-C.
For once I think I was right about something.
It checks for new posts every minute, it bounces the dock icon as much as you like, it ignores posts by a specified poster and it even includes Growl support nowadays.
It's only available in Swedish, but all three people in the target audience are native speakers, so I don't see this as a huge problem right now. If someone disagrees just send word and I'm sure we can work something out.

For its size, Klotterkoll 1.5.1 (and earlier, of course) is a horror of memory waste. I can't even say it has memory management, not when the used memory increases slightly on each and every check for new posts. It doesn't crash, and OS X deals with it all very well, but after a week or two you'll have some rather large swap files doing no good at all ... I'll deal with it, sooner or later, it's good stuff to learn.
