Klotterkoll for OS X

Much technobabble follows ...

To explain the picture above, I've finally created a working and (somewhat) meaningful program for OS X! Martin has a noteboard (guestbook, whatever word you like) on his site, and a few of us post there rather much. So he's made a nice little checker for Windows that can alert you to new posts. I've been working very slowly toward learning enough Cocoa and objective-C to make one for OS X and now I've actually got there. The only thing I really want before I call it 1.0 is a nice icon. Feels great in all.

Have downloaded and installed Service Pack 2 for Windows XP (either you write that over five lines or you go into an abbrevation-fest ...), then very carefully disabled most of the additional security. I'm still myself when it comes to Windows and things running in the background. Especially when the darn thing sits in the system tray and pops up a balloon every now and then informing me that my computer is unsafe.

Boxes Incoming!

Moving status: one box packed, only everything else left to go ...

Okay, I just got a clear message from the gods of computer care. It's time to learn the lesson others have paid dearly to learn; that computers and drinks belong in highly different areas of your room, and preferably in different timezones. I just spilled tea right next to Pomum, and we both live to tell about it. A little bit of liquid got into the firewire, network and modem ports and some splashed around the power cord. More than enough excitement for me. I think I need another cup of something to calm down ...

Yes, I've made another cup of tea by now, and one second ago I almost put it down in the exact same spot it was when I toppled it.

Almost.

I'm learning. Right.
