Hospitality Club is, basically, a website-based network for people who like to travel. Sign up, fill in the profile, wait to be accepted and start looking for friendly people wherever it is you want to go. Find people to stay with and talk to, and let nice people come and stay at your place.

Bonnie found us a great host in Brussels through Hospitality Club, and I actually signed up right from his computer (French keyboard and all). That was in July 2004. During the late summer and autumn I got two requests for places to stay, but neither ended up in an actual visit. My first actual visitor arrived on March 12th 2005 and stayed for two nights. It's great fun to meet someone this randomly, spending a night or two listening to someone's travel experiences (and contributing a little from your own relatively stationary life when given the chance).
