Amiga

Oh, those were the days ...

An Amiga with 1 megabyte of RAM was all you needed to run every game out there and kick the ass of every stupid PC that came within eyesight. It could do the works, and even those Amigas that survive to this day can do a lot more than a similar PC can even think of. It's too bad that it was Commodore that held the reins, I've later come to understand just what a poorly managed company it really was and how different things could have been if they'd not bought the Amiga to begin with.

I may be one of those hopeless nostalgics (and I'm not afraid to say so either! (which might qualify me even more)) but I still think Amigas are about the coolest computers around. I can't wait until the new ones are released. No, I don't have the fanatism or money to buy one right away, but God knows I'll want to :-) ... PCs are just so boring by comparison ...

Of course, I've never been of much help to the Amiga community as anything but a game buyer. But at least I did buy a lot more games than most people did (and they're still in the shelf next to my bed in case anyone's interested :-) ... My trusty Amiga 500+ is still very much servicable, but the thing I've used it the most for recently is transfering disk images to my PC for safer storage, and of course usage under UAE. There are so many great games for the old Amigas, and so many failing floppy disks (tons of mine are dead already) so now I try to transfer what I can.
