10.3.2

New month, new OS update. New graphics drivers, better networking and other generally Nice Stuff. Better networking is of course what we've all been dreaming about since 10.3.0, but I haven't tried it yet. I have sort of tried the improved graphics drivers though. Read a Slashdot post (yeah, I know, never believe a Slashdot posting) saying that graphics performance was hugely improved, so I did my own totally unscientific test by running Unreal Tournament and trying to remember what kind of numbers I got before updating. I recall getting framerates starting around 30 and going downwards (more, of course, if facing a black corner on a map without enemies). Now that I started playing the framerate was more in the range of 40 to 60 and everything did feel nicer and smoother running than before. UT performance is now quite a bit better on Pomum than on Terminus, and that somehow feels cool.

Of course, it could be my mind wanting to see improvements, but there's no difference from this point of view :-) ...

Also downloaded at the same time was a new battery management update. What's fun about this one is Apple's translation. They call it "Batteriuppdateringen", which is somewhat like calling it The Battery Update" in English. The update to end all updates ...

Yes, I find things like that funny.

Please don't stare.

Later today ...

Oh look. Networking with Windows shares still behaves the same. Fancy that.
