Just read a review of what comes down to a wireless screen (see external), the Airpanel.
Pick it up and use it anywhere within the range of your wireless network!
Have the power of your desktop computer at your fingertips anywhere in the house!
Only without the input (unless you lug a USB keyboard and mouse around)!
And slower graphics performance as well!

I thought as I lifted Pomum from my lap, got up from the sofa and laid down on the bed instead to start typing this.
Granted, Pomum costs about three times more than the Airpanel, but for one thing there are lots of much cheaper laptops that do all the Airpanel does and for another I don't feel like the Airpanel does even one third of what Pomum does.
Throw in the tablet PC form factor and things only feel stranger.
I'm not exactly alone in not seeing much point in these things at the current price. There's the review I read, not to mention discussions on Slashdot. And if I'm not mistaken The Register made well-written fun out of prototypes of devices like this a long time ago. But it really is hard to see much meaning in this thing. Even if prices drop they have to do so much faster than laptops to become interesting. Perhaps one day all LCDs will have wireless features at little extra cost (imagine a nice plug-in thing on the back). That would be fun ...
