I knew a long time ago that if I was going to get a console of the current generation it would be an Xbox. It's powerful and the games I want to play seem to show up for it sooner or later. Add to this the fact that the price never seems to stop dropping and that the bundles often contain really nice games. The real question was more if I would get a console at all. Since I'm currently living quite happily without a TV for more than a year the chance/risk seemed pretty slim. Consoles need a large TV to be really nice after all.
I never doubted I would get myself a new TV some day though. And in the meantime dad has a TV much larger and nicer than I'm likely to afford in any near future. Which is how I find myself in the rather unusual situation of having bought a console bundled with two games, plus an additional controller, for locating in someone else's house ...
On November 10th 2003 I read an ad for a bundle with Halo and Midtown Madness 3 and after checking with above mentioned owner of large TV pretty much made up my mind on the spot. It's still November 11th at the time of writing, and I paid for my box at 17:55 today.
Installation is an overstatement, really. Of course this is a console, but my jaded computer-tinkering mind was somehow surprised by the fact that were only a grand total of two cables to connect on the back. Adding a network would increase the count by a whopping 50% of course, but I'm probably not diving into that for quite some time.
