All About the Search Page

"Search and you shall find", they say. Well, sometimes it turns out they're nothing but pesky liars, but I created the search page to at least give people a sporting chance to find something.

It should be made perfectly clear that the search is by no means perfect. It doesn't do wildcards (so you can't search for "*gbunn*" and find all pages containing the word slugbunny) and it only finds pages containing the exact phrase/sentence/bit of a word you typed. So you can't type three words and find pages containing one, more or either of them. All you get back is pages containing those exact words in that exact order.

When you type something in the search box and hit search, you search for what you typed in the content and headlines of all pages. So externals, news and so on aren't included in the default search. And, as you see from the page, there's no way to search more than one "source" at a time.

All of the above are things I'd sure like to add to the search. I just don't know quite how to best do it, or I haven't taken the time to give it a good try. The back-end to the searches and some functions it's using isn't all that pleasant to look at either ...
