Yohoo, I have no voice! I think this is the first time it's happened to me and it feels pretty damn weird. My throat doesn't hurt (much) so as long as I don't try to speak everything feels totally normal. But as soon as I try to say something things just ... don't work. Huge chunks of the tone span are just gone and replaced by a block of wood. Very odd feeling. At first I tried to work my voice into behaving, but then I read up a bit and found out that keeping quiet was the right thing to do. So I called work and said I wouldn't be there today (we don't have a mime line yet) and then shut up :-) ...
This loss of voice isn't some isolated strangeness by any means. It's all part of the larger scheme of this very speedy infection I've got. It's varied itself quite a lot over the days I've had it. I stared feeling lightly ill one evening, and by the following night I had to use nose spray to be able to sleep. Fair enoguh, the night after that I could do without again and thought the worst had passed by already. The next evening I got some fever instead :-) ... I took a painkiller and went to bed, and the fever was gone by the morning and hasn't been heard from since. And then yesterday around noon or so my voice started turning seriously odd. I wouldn't mind if it gets better just as fast tonight, because I find it useful quite often ...
On Sunday Niclas introduced me to the first episode of Serial Experiments Lain. It's extremely promising, to say the least. Totally strange, haunting and just a little bit disturbing, I look forward to consuming more episodes very soon.
Inspiration from people much more proficient than myself in the ways of Linux made me boot Red Hat on Terminus again. Right now I'm running the ritual massive software update, and I'm not sure what, if anything, I might do more there. I just feel like learning more about Linux again ...

Three episodes into Lain now. I think I have time for one more before I sleep ...
