Honey, I'm home!
It's already the second full day in Sweden, and it seems I'm enjoying the start of the autumn semester after all. I've bought the first book needed for the course today. In fact it's lying right next to Pomum, and I would do well to start reading it now instead of updating here ...
In any case, right before getting home I wasn't sure at all how I felt about the prospect of studying through this autumn. And once I got home and found a letter in the mail revealing the System thought I wouldn't be studying anything at all since I apparently hadn't said yes in time (I'm not sure who exactly is to blame for this, but that's another matter) my motivation didn't exactly go up either. A quick email got things sorted out though and with or without motivation I attended the registration and first lecture. Pretty much repetition of things we learned last autumn, and it seems the whole course will continue in that trend. Same thing as the C level, only with higher demands. And, thanks to some braindead f***k in some organizational position, with shorter time as well. The normal thing through my university time has been that the term ends in the middle of January, meaning you have something important to finish over Christmas that ruins the ability to relax. Well, guess they got the idea that people want some time off. So, they effectively shortened the semester a week. This means we'll need to hand in our largest and most demanding essay the day after new year's day, and most definitely work all through Christmas. We're doing a ten week essay in eight weeks, basically. What's the reason for this shit? Politics? Stupidity? Spite? I sure as hell don't know.
Don't get me wrong about my mood though, it is actually really good. I feel like I can do this and have fun in the process (provided a reasonably interesting subject to write about can be found of course) and I also feel high motivation for work and other things I'm involved in. I feel motivated to get things done, in short, and I hope that holds up for a long time.
Now I'd better read a bit. And then I'd like to do some more updates here ...
