Bloody damn stupid narrow keyboard and touchpad!
You type a good distance into a diary entry, too enthusiastic to save at the moment. Then you accidentaly erase it all with some quick move that you can't quite figure out.
And it's not the first time you do so eihter, so one might think you should learn soon ...
Anyway, as I was saying ...
Doom III, it certainly looks ...
Creepy, to say the least. I downloaded the E3 demo film and while it didn't impress me at first I did feel a certain sense of dread come sneaking up on me toward the end. Still, the scares seem to be heavily action oriented, in-your-face kind of things rather than creeping-doom-and-moving-shadows type affairs. That might just be having to cram lots of stuff into a short demo, but I can imagine it being representative of the game too. After all, when did iD do a quiet, sneaking game? And since the game probably includes an excursion to hell toward the end I really can't see it ending in anything too innovative. After all, hell is probably quite packed with red, lava, fire and other bright stuff. You don't get many shadows to hide in in a place like that, and probably hordes of demons coming at you too.
For a game that most likely won't even play on any computer I've got, Doom III looks a bit unimpressive. Sure, outstanding from a technical standpoint, but where's the real use of all that? There's nothing in there I didn't feel I'd seen before, just less polished. The door being proken down was pretty good looking though.
I really don't have very high expectations on Doom III, but I will most likely play it. If I have a computer that can, of course ...
Now I'm going to play Blade Runner instead ...
