Apple Logo + PowerBook + AirPort Base Station = !

Apple Store: delivering little bundles of love, in a box, directly to your door.

Order Status: Shipped

On May 3rd, 2003 I ordered my 12 inch PowerBook. Dangerously enough, I felt in love before I've even got the thing ...

On May 6th I got an email informing me that my order had left the factory and was on its way to my home. Much speedier than I dared hope, I was calmly calculating on getting my stuff somewhere in the middle of next week just to keep my expectations down.

On May 9th I finally settle down after the excitement generated by the May 6th email and come to terms with the thought that I'll get the order next week after all. Yes, I'm easily excited sometimes :-) ... I also realized that the Apple Store's status page does link to tracking information of my order. Not only that, the tracking is very thorough too. It actually seems to start at the time of each item's original manufacturing. One item left Apple Taiwan on March 15th, and that sure wasn't my fault.

And then, on May 12th around 10:40, the wait was over when a man with three boxes in his arms rang the doorbell. Less than an hour later I was surfing the Internet wirelessly :-) ...

Background

The urges to have a laptop, a computer running OS X and wireless networking teamed up and slowly gained momentum until it all came crashing down into the Apple Store. Apple gobbled up a huge chunk of my money and sent out its little workers to start mining for ore.

So what I finally got myself was a 12,1 inch Powerbook with AirPort Extreme (wireless networking, that is) and a base station to go with that.

My name is Fredrik Björeman, and I'm a Mac buyer.
