Hmmm ... My hosting company has had lots of problems with the server hosting this site lately, causing plenty of downtime. Today things approached normal again. I could connect to the site, but the database wasn't accessible. The status pages showed everything up and running, but I assumed there was something going on that would be over soon and didn't think more of it. Probably just the databases being restored from backup or something.
Well, it turned out that everything really was up and running already. The only thing that hadn't come back was, for some reason, the database user the site uses for all its connections. I created it again, and everything's peachy! Don't know how I got the idea, but if I hadn't I'd still be staring at the "unable to connect" messages.
At least it did some good, it made me create a nice and useful error page :-) ...
Okay, one thing still seems a bit down, I still can't check my email without using the webmail functions ... Some other setting that's been forgotten by any chance?
