Naturally, as soon as I read that the demo contained new single player maps I had to download it. Single player content has always been the focus for me in games, and especially single player content in the form of campaigns in games delivered by Blizzard. The demo contains the two tutorial missions with the Orcs and then adds in three more missions en-route to Kalimdor. The Ocs seek refuge from a storm on a small archipelago and meet some friends and foes, both new and old. The missions nicely explain how trolls became part of the horde again, and also leave a hook that could be picked up in future missions. You never know with Blizzard, there is an expansion pack on the way after all ...
Gameplay-wise everything's just as normal. Difficulty is pretty low, at least to someone who's played through the game already. But then the missions are probably balanced for players trying the demo before getting the game, and for those I think at least the last mission will provide a nice challenge. All the missions feel at least as worked through and polished as the original campaign missions. They also include full speech for all new dialogue. I wasn't really expecting that, not everyone gets the voice actors back for just three missions, so it was a nice surprise.
There's nothing more to say about graphics and sound of course, they're exactly what they are in the main game. And that, of course, isn't too bad.
In all this is a nice demo. I love when demos are given their own content. It adds some kind of "collectability" that I really enjoy :-) ... And of course new content on a nice difficulty level reminds you of all the nice things about the main game again. It was a while since I played it, maybe I should give multiplayer/skirmish a go again ...
