Avatar is pure imagination.
Pure imagination, tightly spun into a brilliant weave of colossal proportions. There is no way it could work. It is much too expensive, much too big. Too wild, too loud. Too complex, too colourful. Too obvious and too simple. It even has the 3d gimmick. There is no way it should work.
And yet, it does.
As I sat there, letting Avatar crash down on me, one massive wave closer to three hours in duration, I was caught up and washed away.
Master wizard Cameron took me by the hand and said "Let me show you what I can do." What we all can do, in fact. Look what our minds can make with those simple building blocks.
Walking home, starting to decompress, I started thinking about how beautiful this world is. A cool May evening on the west coast of Sweden, trees the freshest of green, insects and bird song still in the air. Even trams, people, bridges and sleeping office buildings.
We have a wonderful thing going right here too. Being whisked away by something made of pure unobtanium every once in a while is certainly not a bad way to be reminded of the fact.
