Huddled up in my home town with my laptop and the window open to birds singing in the cool summer evening. It has been a good day, a good holiday day. I got up somewhere around nine, had a nice breakfast and coffee with dad and then we went for a run in Karlslund. It was my first run in almost a week, it went really well and left a nice worn feeling in my legs. 10,3 kilometers (I am told) in 49:11:4 brings both my mind and body into a good mood. Then we had lunch, yummy leftovers from last night, before taking a trip to IKEA to look for possible sofas and kitchen tables for my apartment. Good candidates were found, noted and then the local powertool offerings were surveyed before we needed to head home for coffee and wonderful cheesecake.
Now it is evening again, and I am here with the laptop having just finished Bone and dipped my toes into Spook country by William Gibson. It is good to be here indeed.
To be fair, my whole holiday has been good since it began. Niclas has visited me, there has been a birthday party for Martin and also a rather sudden (but not unplanned) TV purchase. I have now stepped into the age of high definition, and I look forward to making as full use as possible of that. And yes, that is pretty likely to mean additional gadget purchases. Just as soon as I have either refilled my accounts a bit, or become comfortable with the thought of draining them some more.
There have also been more birthday presents. I now have more books to read, movies to watch, lamps to use, clothes to wear and great notebooks to try out. When people give you Moleskine notebooks and they make you feel all happy it is time to show you are serious about using them too. I keep thinking of myself as a writer, so it should be easy ...
And now? Well, I am not sure. But I do know I will do something I feel like doing, and there will be no stress in doing it. Tomorrow will be a good holiday day too, and this a good holiday night.
