"What about second breakfast?" we asked ourselves and had one.
2009 has started with weather making it appear truly new - clear skies, sunlight and a few degrees cold. Fresh and crisp. With the celebrations of the new year behind me it's time to wind down and enjoy just being at home for a few days before work gets going again. Time to do the kind of non-Christmas stuff when gifts, trips and copious eating are all out of the way.
Make gingerbread for example. There have been talks of trying hands at making a gingerbread house as well, complete with a different and specialized dough recipe, but that is still undecided. For now gingerbread was enough, and gave rise to wishes for additional kitchenware.
By the way, I wished for and got new batteries for my camera for Christmas. I now consider it proven that the old batteries, not the camera, were to blame for the extremely short usage times I got before. As a result I've taken more pictures in two days than in the last six months and look forward to going on like that for a while. The Iphone may have Shozu, but picture quality and options it never had and never will. It's nice to have a reliable proper camera again.
Shopping (and eating!) trips to Malmö are also planned. And I have a nice pile of books waiting for my every spare moment. Plus a whole stack of films, new and old, not to mention the Wii and DS games I always mean to come back to ... I did get a few hours of Okami in during the last few days, so I feel like I'm making ... progress(?) on the entertainment front too.
I have had the odd unstructured dream where work or people from work appear, but apart from that and a few emails I couldn't keep from answering (I was explicitly told not to) I've really managed to tune work out and really be on holiday.
Christmas and new year has been a bit of a blur of things, but a very good blur indeed. I think my mental unpacking of the highly compressed events is still ongoing in a low-priority background process.
