I think the urge to learn more and be more creative in my spare time is coming back after something of a break (perhaps simply a natural recession). All the usual subjects are possible targets.
Another spark is away for the time being, not returning until I go away myself. After which I will soon go away for a few more days. Past that I don't see much keeping us in separate places ...
The spark of touch-typing-training remains, and I'm trying as best as I can to keep correct positions and finger usages while typing this. I've also started noticing more actively how other people type, which is kind of interesting. I think I've met about one person recently who seems to be closer to real touch-typing. But he did seem like he was really good at it too.
One of the benefits of the union I'm in is that I get technology-related newspaper Computer Sweden three times a week. While there are several good articles and columns in it, a lot of it also reads very, very much like press releases from some company or another. And some articles start off seemingly about a general problem only to gradually turn into more obvious plugs for one company's solution to said (and possibly company-defined) problem.
And then sometimes there are interesting mixes of press releases and opinions. I just ran across one such article. The whole text of the relatively short piece read like a press release from Samsung about their coming phones. Standard empty stuff which makes me feel I'd never pay for the paper if I didn't get it for free. The kind of things you can find on a million blogs I choose not to subscribe to.
But then there was the interesting bit. Alongside the text was an image of Samsung's latest and greatest and the image text (roughly): "CHALLENGER. Omnia has more functions than Iphone, but is a finger controlled shell on top of Windows Mobile really a winning solution?"
Look!
An opinion, all of a sudden! Where did it come from, and how did it get there?
I wonder if someone simply got sick of typing up press releases?
