So, yesterday I listened to John Gruber and friend going on about the Apple extended keyboard II and somewhat related keyboards. The IBM model M is in about the same division as the extended II and was of course duly mentioned.
So today I picked up a PS/2 to USB converter on the way home from work, and then headed down to the basement and dug up my Model M.
(And yes, I locked myself out in the process. Didn't realize the apartment key from that particular chain was on loan for the weekend ...)
So, now I'm sitting here, gently wondering to myself why the control and shift keys don't seem to do anything. The alt keys and all the others work, including caps lock reassigned to be command key (the one disadvantage of a PC keyboard lacking Windows keys).
Surely I can't have managed to screw anything up while cleaning it? Model Ms aren't exactly sensitive little things.
Research, and a boot into Windows, is in order!
