Today I've spent a bit more time in the real world than usual.
First there was a quick contact with local healthcare to check on some vague feelings I've been having. They turned out to be the best thing of all: nothing. Happily I got on with my day. Then, after work, I took a bus across town and did some proper supermarket shopping. City Gross Lund was nice enough, and very similar to before it was re-branded, but not cheap enough. I mean, what's the point of taking the bus and things if shopping at the Netto five minutes' walk from our door is actually cheaper? And it's not like I'd go to City Gross for the magnificient selection either. What it boils down to is that I think next time we work up the energy to go to a supermarket it will probably be Willys.
In any case I shopped and filled three rather heavy bags. I was also really lucky with buses for a change, catching one home with half a second to spare and waiting maybe a minute or two for the second one I needed to get home.
Once home I had a go at our bedroom walls. We will be putting up new tapetstries in a week, so before that we of course want to make the surface as even and smooth as possible. So I got a bit of work done on a few joins, then I realised I couldn't do all that much without getting more things out of the way and started focusing on that instead.
After that it occured to me I was starting to feel faint from not eating, so I took a shower and did something about the food situation, listening to the latest Penny Arcade podcast while at it.
Finally, I'm now in bed. Having read a short article about the wrongness of straight quotes, I vaguely feel I should start using "proper" (ha!) ones, yet remain uncertain about how I should go about it for my site. A fun little feature to investigate some afternoon, I say.
I finished American Gods the other day. It was a great read all the way through. I'm starting to suspect Gaiman of only writing things which appeal to me, which is, hopefully, a rather minor sin in the grand scheme of things. I did look a bit for the next Sandman last time I was out window shopping, but I couldn't find it. Shame.
Picking up on my last entry, I have managed to cut down on needless restaurant visits for the past week. Going to supermarkets and stocking up better is another good step on that path, it means more things in store at home to make lunches from.
Commas are not dying, at least not while I remain able to write things ...
Take care, and don't sit up all night reading other people's brain dumps!
