Everyday dress

So my second day of work after the trip recently ended. Things are still feeling nicely non-normal and rather relaxed. Yesterday was of course pretty calm going, and the arrival of some books we ordered right before Christmas gave the day a slightly Christmas-y feel.

And today is Ellen's birthday, so it started with breakfast in bed, cake and gift giving.

Looking at it like this, perhaps things feel non-normal because they simply haven't been too normal ...

Right now I'm making some quick food, and I've started a rather monstrous upload of photos for the benefit of those (hi Bonnie!) who were there and just want it all for reference. I do not think many other people will be interested in downloading a 2,4 gigabyte zip file, but it will be there if someone does ask.

It will be, in about six hours ...

Books!

The books I made us buy at work are Filthy rich clients (which I guess is pretty well known in Java circles) and Programming Erlang. The first one because it feels good, and fun, to learn more about Java GUI programming, the second one more to widen my views a bit. Can't hurt to at least try and push your mind in new directions.

I've only had a few pages of each yet, and haven't tried any code at all, so it's too early to say much about them. But I feel a nice urge to read more of them, and have a difficult time choosing which to give attention to.

Also yesterday, the entirety of Ghost in the shell stand alone complex was dropped in my lap. In all, I could just lock myself up and consume media and be busy for a long time.

I need another holiday for all this ...

And tonight (soon? Already?) Apple is presenting hopefully new and cool stuff. I've decided to stay off the net until I can watch the keynote myself.

Which is good, more time to spend on all these other things ...
