Christmas presence

On Tuesday I did my very first Christmas shopping of the season. Low blood sugar and compact darkness limited my inspiration however, and it wasn't until today that I really got going.

On the way, I spotted some more or less odd text.

Poorly worded sign for a bowl made of bamboo

The description goes something like "Good for a cosy evening at home filled with popcorn", which looks like a poor translation, but the original is in fact just as bad. Also, the headline should not have been written as two words. But then, it's more fun to think "bamboo cheers" than "bamboo bowl", so perhaps something has been gained after all ...

This one is more international though:

Demo version? What is unfinished about it?

This possibly has the most meaning to people used to trying computer software. For us, the implication is that a demo version is somehow limited (or unfinished, and created to be able to give a demonstration before release) compared to the full version. So, how might this salt grinder be limited? Does it stop working in 20 days? Does it nag you to purchase the full version? I don't know, perhaps it's simply the limitation that you can't take it home with you unless you purchase it. That actually makes sense ...

Okay, I'll stop trying to be funny now.

The important thing is that I found a couple of presents, and that I think I'll find the rest without getting too stressed about it.

An important factor in this sudden gift buying is that my brother is coming here over the weekend, and will be able to take with him all already purchased gifts. I'll spend Christmas at home instead of with the rest of the family, so sending stuff with him instead of posting everything seemed rather appealing and motivating.
