Rayman raving rabbids

For Wii

Bunnies like the big picture

I do not know if I have anything constructive to say about this game. And I am not sure if that matters. A large collection of wacky mini games, most of which make good use of Wii controls, featuring mad rabbids and other, usually frigthened, animals is not exactly conductive to normal constructions, or logic.

It was the first game I felt I wanted for the Wii, and now that I have plowed through the story mode I can say that it was up to my expectations. Re-plays, party playing and the like are all icing on the cake. Once I have gone through whatever single player story a game offers up I feel at peace enjoying the other modes and challenges at whatever pace I please (including ignoring them). I do not think I will ever try to achieve extreme scores, especially not after reading about scoring bugs making maximum scores impossible and the final unlockable forever ... un-unlockable, but I will have a good time coming back every now and then, especially when co-players are around.

Bunnies have their favourites

I have a soft spot for the first-person shooter sequences, where you move on a set path, aim and fire with the remote and flick the nunchuck to reload.

Pumping carrot juice at bunnies in snorkels is a hit with everyone, and of course with me too. And of course smacking the bunnies singing out of tune in the choir.

More to come when rabbids can think of them.

Bunnies can not control themselves

Most controls are just fine. Not exactly Wii Sports-kind of natural, but well enough thought out and easy enought to execute that they stick after a few seconds (which is good, since you sometimes do not have much more time than that).

When a dance stage gets too intensive I no longer feel I am in complete control. I start wondering if it is me or controller sensitivity which is at fault, and start feeling some nice analog buttons would have been nice for comfort.

Another glaring exception to the good-controls-rule is the game where you are supposed to slap toilet doors shut. There it feels like there is some secret trick I have not learned, and I end up flailing around, failing miserably every time. Stupid rabbids probably ate some important piece of controller code.

I also had a somewhat tough time with controls in the "Bunnies have a natural rythm" game. I did get much better hang of it after a while, but I still do not know if it was some movement I started doing better, was switching to PAL 60, or some random voodoo ritual. It is not hard to wonder how large or small movements are needed for correct registration.

Bunnies have one last question

All I wonder: is there any hope for a dance stage featuring Dancing lasha tumbai in the sequel?
