Unfinished DS games or not, when Media Markt opened their fairly large doors in town and offered the Wii 20% cheaper than usual, it was time.
16:25 on October 2nd, to be specific.

They also heavily discounted the very first game I felt interested in.
I swear I had no part in it.

A new, movement focused, console in the house. And I get myself a bottle of beer. If you're ever going to doubt my judgement, now would be a great time.

To improve handling in rough seas, each Wii package includes an extended version of the bible as ballast.

Also included is a highly self-explanatory ... piece of plastic.
(Yes, the manual explains what it is.
Ruining all the fun, these manuals do ...)

I somehow feel a shot of the actual device is in order, even if it's an uninspired one.
Some people may find it strange, but I spent a few hours before even thinking seriously about trying out a game. Setting up the hardware, of course, but then I "had" to go through all the settings and channels and see what was available. It seemed as good a way as any to get more aquainted with the remote.
So I connected to the internet, downloaded an update, made myself a Mii, checked out the weather, news and voting channels and browsed the shopping channel.
And once in there I got myself Opera right away. Less than 50 crowns to see what browsing adapted to TV and Wii is like seemed like a good deal. Without further ado I got into ...
It's pretty nice! For some reason I was expecting really low performance in page loads and such, but I was wrong. (Disappointed? The opposite of disappointed? Appointed?) Pages (in my very short tests so far) load fast, display correctly and are easily browsed using the remote. Really nice, especially when I consider the crappy resolution available on my old steam-TV. More pixels can only make it even better, right?
We did get around to gaming eventually, finishing two rounds of bowling before bed. And tonight we've had our first taste of Rayman and rabbid wickedness. It all tastes good.
More to come, rest assured!
