Installed Boot Camp, installed XP there. Works great.
However, having PowerMate connected during XP install somehow rendered the keyboard unusable, disconnecting before starting install did the trick).
Parallels supports running from a Boot Camp partition. That, too works.
But, not too strangely, semi-emulated versus real hardware is a significant enough change that Windows' hardware worries kick in and ask you to re-validate Windows.
Before I've read up a bit more on this, I think we'll just stick with Boot Camping when we need Windows. Re-validating Windows all the time doesn't sound like too much fun ...
Games is, of course, what made me go through the Trial by Windows once again. More specifically, The Sims. Ever since the hard drive of Ellen's old Fan-and-rumble-box gave up she has been unable to get her fix. Now it's possible again, and both smoother and larger than ever before.
I'm not sure whether I've done world peace any favours by making sure we'll both want to spend extensive time using the same computer, and in different operating systems too. But it will be interesting to see how it develops.
Interesting from an academic standpoint anyway ...
