How often do you listen to music?

Pretty often I guess?

And how often do you really listen actively? How often is listening to music your main activity? How often do you just sit back and listen, not doing anything else on the side?

That's a very rare thing, at the very least for me here and now, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this.

I used to do it. Back in the days when I started my old site I could put on headphones and sit back in my armchair, eyes closed, for the duration of an entire CD. When did I do that last time?

And why is it so hard to just let the music flow?

Perhaps because it's so easy to do other things at the same time, and that somehow feels more productive?

And perhaps because just sitting back and listening gets the brain going. I mean, I sat back with iTunes visualization on full screen. How far did I get? Through a song or so, then I turned the visuals off and started writing this while listening.

Well, at least I disconnected Adium.

One step in the right direction ...

Right, I'm saving this, then it's back to music-only. At least until the next idea strikes ...

Definitely seems like a productive thing to do ...
