Back online!

Funny how quickly that stops feeling nice, fresh and full of possibilities ...

In any case, I got back from dad's place somewhere around 11:30 (that's AM for those of you into that kind of thing), and noticed with restrained disappointment that the lights on the modem still indicated no connection was available. Somewhere deep inside I was mentally preparing for the day to pass without any working connection, and perhaps needing to spend time fiddling with various kind of more or less arcane settings of one type or the other before I'd be allowed back online again. Trying not to admit this, I sat down in the sunlight and listened to the radio.

When I passed by the modem not twenty minutes later I was, to my slight disbelief, greeted by a steady green light meaning there was a connection. (I have to constrain myself to avoid putting an exclamation mark after that sentence.)

A few updates, a few tests of streaming music viceos, a few torrents. Now what?

Actually, the thing isn't that I'm unhappy with the connection, or that there isn't anything I can do with it. The thing is that even after just a few hours I find myself sitting around looking at download progress indicators, playing FreeCell and reading too many game reviews. Stuck in the lazy surfer swamp again, that is.

I think I should go for a walk. Right away.
