So, Henrik comes here, 17 inch monitor under his arm (or was that inconveniently lugged with both hands and arms ...) and speakers in his backpack. We shock Pigbox by turning it off, moving it, connecting the nice big monitor and speakers and booting into XP. The poor thing must have been scared out of its mind before things settled down again.

Then we proceeded to spend the evening playing nice multiplayer games. After Henrik left I rebooted into Linux and pushed Pigbox back to its corner. Suddenly a few extra centimeters of network cable appeared out of nowhere, allowing me to put Pigbox right into the corner of the kitchen in the exact way the cable wouldn't allow before. Very nice, perhaps it'll even affect sound levels a little (yes, I admit that I can still hear it a little more than I like to if it's really quiet).

Gosh, my hands feel so dry right now! A sign of autumn approaching?

We also did a bit of updating of XP on Pigbox. Visiting Windows Update without the filtering out of unwanted patches I have here once again reminded me of the amusement of one particular patch. There is a patch that specifically fixes a problem with the DVD version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I think it's just wonderful! Can't you see it before you, Bill Gates stating that "Five dwarfs ought to be enough for anyone"?

Okay XP service pack 1 is out! Was just about to start installation, then stopped myself and went back to read the license agreement first. Feels like I want to do that for a change now ...

Maybe I'm blind, but I didn't find anything exceptionally evil in that ... Most of it was even pretty understandable. Maybe there are more addendums in the individual files, we'll see ...

Okay, here's another one, in English this time ... Okay, the right to check during install that my OS is legal. Seems fair enough to me ...

Hehe, I may not disclose any benchmark test of the .NET framework to any third party without asking first. I can live with that ...

And then a lot of stuff in French that goes if you live in Canada. Hope there's nothing secret hidden there :-) ...

And that was it. I guess I go ahead one more step ...

Okay, it's decided I need to download about 45 megabytes of files. Would be interesting to see what it is, but maybe that will show later on ... Chose not to archive files by the way, so if I don't like it I guess I'm stuck :-) ...

Washed hands very thoroughly and reapplied smaller amounts of handcream. Seems to have done the trick, at least for now. Hot water and cold water, mom's old recipe against itches :-) ...

Okay, it's installing, and I haven't got to know just what it's updating, except for what I can guess from the filenames flashing by. Maybe they'll tell once it's done (that's about time). Lots of files changed, that's for sure ... Good thing they've kept working :-) ...

Wohoo, done and time to restart! Was afraid for a second that it'd do the old "restart without asking first" trick for something as major as this, but actually not. I can't chose not to, but I can at least wait until I've finished up anything else I'm doing.

And after I've done that and looked a little for changes it's definitely time for some sleep ...
